Lt Col Sakon Kainara of the Phuket City Police was notified of the fire, in Soi Tha Chin, Rassada, at 5pm.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, though firefighters on four fire trucks soon arrived and spent an hour battling the flames while neighbours started moving their valuables out of their homes.
By then, however, it was too late. The home was destroyed and even two motorbikes parked near the home suffered damage from the fire.
Police that while questioning witnesses they learned that the house was owned by Ampon Thongkiert.
Ms Ampon was not in the house at the time, as she usually rents it out to tenants. However, the house is currently vacant, police said.
Police said they would investigate further in the hope of determining the cause of the fire.
