In the poll about infrastructure-development projects, The Phuket News asked voters: “Which traffic-infrastructure improvement projects should receive priority in Phuket?”
Readers could choose up to three options from nine available.
By far, reforming the bus system was the most popular of the nine choices, with the second-most-popular option selected being a tie between Chalong Circle (underpass/overpass) and the Airport-Chalong rail link project, which each garnered 13pc of all votes.
Following are the remaining options and their respective results:
- Patong Tunnel (10pc)
- Koh Kaew traffic lights (6pc)
- Heroine’s Monument circle (5pc)
- The new airport-bypass route (4pc)
- Naka Junction (2pc)
- Bangkoo junction (1pc)
Readers were also asked to identify how long they spent in Phuket traffic every day. A majority (31pc) said they spent more than an hour commuting daily in Phuket. This was followed by 29pc who said they spent between 31 minutes to an hour.
Only 15pc said they spent more than 15 minutes but less than 30, while a quarter of voters said they spent less than 15 minutes in traffic.
