Thalang police were notified at 3:10am yesterday morning that one of their officers had been assaulted by a customer inside the Makam Deekwuy pub on Thepkrasattri Rd in Srisoonthorn.
Police arrived at the pub with Kusoldharm rescue workers and were told that someone had already taken the victim to hospital.
The officer, later identified as Sen Sgt Maj Sukon Kaewthongsan, received five stitches to his face at Thalang Hospital and was released immediately after receiving treatment.
After being released from the hospital Sen Sgt Maj Sukon reported the incident to Capt Santichai Simai. He confirmed that he was assaulted by a customer inside the pub.
“The man grabbed a plastic chair and hit me in the face,” Sen Sgt Maj Sukon said.
Capt Santichai added that he was told by another of his colleagues that the man who assaulted Sen Sgt Maj Sukon had gone to the station at 9am yesterday morning and admitted that he had had too much drink when he carried out the assault.
The Phuket News has been told that Sen Sgt Maj Sukon did not file any charges against the culprit.
