The incident began around 2:15pm on Saturday (May 10), when officers from Phuket City Police Station responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle ‒ a grey Toyota Vigo with Phuket license plates ‒ parked on the side of Sri Suthat Rd in Ratsada.

When police approached the vehicle, the driver sped off, refusing to comply with orders to pull over. Officers pursued the truck through Wichit and along Sakdidet ‘New Road’, during which the suspects were seen throwing a package from the vehicle.

The chase ended in Soi Songkhun, Chalong, where police managed to corner the suspects and make an arrest. The driver was identified only as ‘Mr Kitti’, 28, and the passenger as ‘Mr Korn’, 27. Both names have been withheld pending formal charges, police said.

Police later recovered the discarded package, which was found to contain approximately 65 grammes of ya ice.

During questioning, the suspects admitted to purchasing the drugs from a teenager in Ratsada with the intention of selling them to acquaintances. Both men tested positive for drug use, according to officers.

They now face multiple charges including possession of Category 1 narcotics (crystal methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, illegal drug use, and, in the case of the driver, additional charges of reckless driving and failing to obey a police order.

The arrest was carried out under the supervision of Pol Col Chatree Chueakaew, Superintendent of Phuket City Police, with assistance from senior officers including Pol Lt Col Atthawat Suwannarat and Pol Lt Col Kant Aksornthong, the police report noted.

The suspects and evidence have been handed over to investigators at Phuket City Police Station for further legal proceedings.
