The operation was carried out throughout the evening last night (Oct 22) until the early hours of this morning (Oct 23), under the direction of Phuket City Police Chief Pol Col Chatri Chukaew, reported Phuket City Police
The patrol teams, led by Pol Lt Col Ratchapas Buakaew and Pol Lt Col Aphichat Musikasang, focused on the Saphan Hin area, a popular gathering spot for young people during the festival.
Officers from the patrol and investigative units conducted checks on groups of youths and young adults to deter illegal street racing and noise disturbances around the end of Saphan Hin Cape.
Police confirmed that 45 individuals were stopped for questioning, and 13 motorbikes found to have been illegally modified were seized and sent to Phuket City Police Station for further investigation.
Phuket City Police said the patrols were part of wider efforts to maintain order and ensure public safety during the nine-day Vegetarian Festival, which draws large crowds to ceremonies and processions across the city.
