Officers from Phuket City Police Station were notified of the incident at 9:30pm after a report was received through the station’s radio centre. The fire was located in the men’s restroom on the third floor of the hospital’s administration building in Phuket Town.

Investigating officer Pol Lt Sumet Petchruanthong reported the incident to his superiors and coordinated with forensic officers to inspect the scene. By the time officers arrived, the fire had already been brought under control.

Initial inspections found damage to items inside the restroom, including a tissue box and a trash can. No injuries were reported.

A witness, identified as Sukarada Boonpharit, told police that smoke had been seen coming from the restroom at about 8:40pm, prompting staff to alert officials and begin efforts to extinguish the fire.

Police and forensic officers documented the scene, collected evidence and prepared a site map as part of the investigation.

Superintendent of Phuket City Police, Pol Col Chatree Chukaew, confirmed the report and said further investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
