Phuket City Police were informed of the incident about 10:50pm yesterday (June 20).
Staff at Phuket Provincial Hospital in Ratsada told officers that a person who had been shot had been brought to the hospital for treatment.
The patient, identified as Sakdawut Saengphon, was transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital, where he was questioned by officers.
Sakdawut told police that he and three other friends went to sit in the park near the Phuket Vocational College.
They were waiting to negotiate settlement of a dispute with a rival.
However, a man wearing a full-face helmet drove up on a motorbike and pulled out what Sakdawut said looked like a ‘gas gun’.
The man fired the gun, with the projectile hitting near his left eye.
Police are now checking CCTV footage from the area as they continue their investigation.
