Pol Lt Col. Natthaya Suphanphong, an investigating officer at Kathu Police Station, received a report of the stabbing at about 6:50am. The initial incident occurred at a rented room opposite Soi Boon-Erb 4, Moo 6, Kathu.

Pol Lt Col Natthaya reported the incident to Kathu Police Chief  Pol Col Chalermchai Hoesawat before coordinating with investigation and patrol officers to inspect the scene.

The injured man was identified as Anuchai Srisorn, 29, from Patong. After the attack, he reportedly drove himself to Patong Police Station before rescue workers transported him to Patong Hospital for treatment.

Initial medical examinations found that Mr Anuchai had suffered a stab wound to his left back, causing muscle tearing.

Police identified the alleged attacker as Supakrit Kammataeng from Nakhon Sri Thammarat. Police said the suspect was a “friend” of the injured man.

Pol Lt Col Ratsada Klungwong, Deputy Superintendent (Investigation) at Kathu Police Station, explained that the violence stemmed from a dispute over a woman.

The confrontation began with an argument at the rented room in Kathu where the victim lived, opposite Soi Boon-Erb, Pol Lt Col Ratsada said.

Mr Anuchai then fled the scene on a motorbike while the suspect pursued him towards Patong Hill. The pair reportedly became involved in a second fight in front of Wat Suwan Khiri Wong (Wat Patong).

During the altercation, Supakrit allegedly kicked the victim’s motorbike, causing it to fall, before stabbing him. Supakrit then fled the scene, Pol Lt Col Ratsada said.

Mr Anuchai later made his way to Patong Police Station to file a report before being taken to hospital for treatment.

Police noted that Kathu Police are leading the investigation as the dispute originated within their jurisdiction.

Supakrit remains at large and is being tracked down for legal action, police said.
