Pol Lt Saruta Phumduang of the Phuket City Police Station. Phuket City was informed of the incident at 9:20am.
Officers arrived at the scene, at the fresh market on Ranong Rd, to find 65-year-old motorbike taxi driver ‘Thiwa Lo Phuket’ still on his motorbike. He had been stabbed in the abdomen and the chest.
He was rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital for medical attention.
Police were told the man who stabbed Mr Thiwa was fellow motorbike taxi driver Jumpol Panthong, also 65 years old.
The pair had an argument over a passenger, and the argument escalated. Jumpol pulled out a knife and stabbed Mr Thiwa then fled, police were told.
Police are checking CCTV throughout the area to track down Jumpol and arrest him for the stabbing, police confirmed.
