Pol. Lt. Atcha Yatiwat, Deputy Chief of Investigation at Cherngtalay Police Station, was notified of the incident, which occurred on Soi Cherng Talay 4, around 3:20am this morning.

It appeared from initial investigations that a vehicle heading from Ban Manik had turned right off Srisoonthorn Rd onto Soi Cherng Talay 4 just ahead of Wat Cherng Talay, before colliding with the motorcycle and, instead of stopping on impact, decided to flee the scene.

However, in doing so he dragged the body of the motorcycle driver with him for approximately 800 metres before the body came loose and the car drove off.

Police and medical workers discovered the body of the motorcylist in an alley near a sharp curve on Soi Cherng Talay 4. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene

Police revealed the deceased appeared to be a man aged between 35-40 years of age, although no personal documents of identification were found on his person. A mobile phone that appeared to belong to the decesed man was nearby although was password locked.

Police confirmed that the deceased man’s body showed marks in several places of having been dragged along the road side and a trail of blood ran from where the collision is believed to have occurred to where his body was discovered.

After reviewing the scene, the deceased man’s body was taken to Thalang Hospital by medical workers where a full autopsy will be conducted.

Police officials confirmed they will be inspecting any local CCTV footage in an effort to pinpont details of the vehicle involved in the incident so they can investigate further and press charges accordingly.
