The man* died after falling from The Field Phuket condominium in Moo 4, Wichit, on Sunday afternoon (Apr 20).

According to an update provided yesterday (Apr 21) by Pol Lt Purachet Chukaew, Deputy Investigator at Wichit Police Station, a review of evidence – including CCTV footage and witness testimony – found no signs of foul play.

CCTV recordings showed the deceased walking alone onto the balcony of the eighth-floor unit before the fall. While the moment of the jump was not captured, cameras recorded the body falling from two different angles.

Investigators reported no indications of a struggle or assault, no signs of forced entry, and no alcohol or drugs found at the scene. Only the deceased and a Ukrainian woman were present in the room at the time.

The woman, 37, told police she had known the man for only four to five hours. She said they met at Phuket Tourist Police Station before going to the condominium together, where he offered to help her move belongings and retrieve a passport that had been confiscated in Krabi.

CCTV footage confirmed the pair entered the lift to the eighth floor at 2:31pm. The woman told police that after arriving in the room, they unpacked together before the man went to take a shower while she continued packing. About 10-15 minutes later, she noticed he was no longer in the room and went to look for him, only to find that he had fallen.

She also reported that during their time together, the man had intermittently been speaking to himself.

Emergency responders were called to the scene at 5:15pm, where they found the man lying face down with multiple injuries, including fractures to his right arm and leg, as well as his wrist and chin. He was unconscious when first attended to.

Rescue workers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before transporting him to Bangkok Hospital Siriroj, where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators have coordinated with forensic doctors at Vachira Phuket Hospital to conduct a post-mortem examination in accordance with legal procedures, and authorities have notified the Russian Embassy through the relevant international channels.

Although police have now classified the death as a suicide, officers said they are continuing efforts to determine the motive behind the incident.
