An official report of a raid carried out on Friday night (May 3) marked that it was conducted under the direction of Patong Police Chief Pol Col Chalermchai Hirsawat, and executed through Patong Police Deputy Chief Pol Lt Col Somporn Surin.
Patong Police officers together with officials from Patong Municipality conducted began their patrol on Friday at 11pm. The raid party was led by fellow Patong Police Deputy Chief Pol Lt Col Supakhom Chuchuai and bolstered by patrol officers.
The officers patrolled the beach in order to “strictly enforce restrictions on the sale of alcoholic beverages, the illegal sale of fireworks and floating lanterns and the placement of tables and chairs on the beach”, said the report.
Although the report did not mention how many people were caught breaking the law, the report did include photos showing plastic chairs being removed from the beach.
Similar raids carried out last Wednesday and Thursday resulted in the arrests of at least three illegal vendors.
