Wichit Police Chief Col Kittipong Klaikaew confirmed to The Phuket News today (Mar 3) that the man was arrested at his place of work yesterday.
“The suspect is currently being held at Provincial Police Station in Phuket Town,” he said.
However, Col Kittipong declined to reveal the identity of the suspect.
The arrest came after officers checked CCTV footage, which led them to the suspect’s workplace, Col Kittipong explained.
“Officers obtained a warrant for his arrest and then Wichit Police and an investigation team from the Phuket Provincial Police moved in took the suspect into custody,” he said.
Wichit Police Chief Col Kittipong and Provincial Police Deputy Superintendent Col Pinit Sirisak both declined to comment on today’s Thai Raht report, which claimed that the robber was a Navy Seal who had admitted to police that he robbed the bank because he owed money for football gambling.
