Mr Domenicali, who is currently in the country to explore the possibility of holding a Formula One race here, paid a courtesy call on the prime minister at Government House in Bangkok yesterday (Apr 22), reports the Bangkok Post.
Mr Srettha said he hoped his visit would offer Formula One Group useful insights and allow the company to seek out a venue to hold a Grand Prix as well as see the country’s potential to host such a high-profile event.
He added that the government is fully supportive of the Formula One Group conducting such a survey.
Mr Domenicali said his company was excited to visit Thailand.
He hoped that both parties could cooperate and successfully achieve their goal, adding that he believes cooperation would result in shared benefits, which would reflect positively on Thailand’s economy, communities and youth.
Mr Srettha confirmed Thailand is ready to work with the company.
Playing host to a Formula One race in Bangkok is part of the government’s policy to create opportunities and boost the country’s potential to host international events.
He said he was confident that, given the chance, Thailand would put in an impressive performance as host of a race on account of its readiness in many areas, including manpower, facilities and the friendliness of the Thai people.
The meeting between Mr Srettha and Mr Domenicali followed an online meeting during the prime minister’s visit to France last month to discuss a possible race in Thailand.
