Figures presented by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Phuket Office at the provincial meeting on Tuesday (May 26) showed that Phuket received a total of 4,901,975 visitors from January to April this year, down 2.08% year-on-year.
The total included 1,358,255 domestic tourists, a decrease of 0.63%, and 3,543,720 international tourists, down 2.62% compared with the same period in 2025.
Tourism revenue during the four-month period totalled B186.9bn, a decline of 2.72% year-on-year. Revenue from Thai tourists amounted to B14.54bn, while foreign visitors generated B172.36bn.
Despite the slight decline in arrivals and revenue, Phuket’s average hotel occupancy rate remained strong at 81.85%, reflecting continued high demand for accommodation across the island.
According to the report, the top 10 international markets visiting Phuket were Russia, China, India, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Kazakhstan, South Korea and Malaysia.
Officials noted particularly strong growth from the Indian and South Korean markets compared with last year.
Phuket International Airport currently serves 71 international destinations across 34 countries, with 50 international airlines operating more than 35,128 flights during the reporting period.
Domestic services covered nine destinations operated by six airlines, with more than 31,655 flights recorded.
Several new air routes are also being introduced this year to support Phuket’s tourism growth and improve international connectivity.
New services include Singapore-Phuket flights by Thai Lion Air, Chiang Rai-Phuket flights by Thai Vietjet, Penang-Phuket flights by AirAsia, and Ho Chi Minh City-Phuket flights by Vietnam Airlines.
Virgin Atlantic is also scheduled to launch direct London Heathrow-Phuket services later this year.
Marine tourism also continued to perform strongly during the first four months of the year, with 46 cruise ships bringing more than 116,021 passengers to Phuket, while 352 yachts docked at the island.
