At 10:30 pm yesterday Phuket City police received a call to say that Natechanok Meinkaew from Trang had been found dead in her apartment in Soi Hongbuth in Rassada.
Investigator Lt Col Porntip Choomsri noted that there were no signs of foul play and that three pieces of paper had been taped to the wall. One was a farewell letter to Ms Natechanok’s paremnts and the other two to her boyfriend, Den.
Relatives were surprised. One told police that Ms Natechanok had shown no sign of depression or sadness. “This evening she came out and talked to me as usual before she went to bed,” the relative told police.
At 10pm a friend, receiving no response to her knocking on the door called the relative.
After she too received no answer, she said, “I climbed into her room through a vent and found her hanging from the ceiling fan. I took her body down and then called for help.”
The body was taken to Vachira Hospital to await funeral arrangements.
UPDATE:
Phuket city police said on March 21 that after questioning friends and relatives, and seeing autopsy results, they have concluded that Ms Natechanok committed suicide in despair over her relationship with "Den". The case is now closed.
The body has been collected by her family and taken back to Trang for creamtion.
