The Andaman Pearl lost their 2nd place standing, falling into 3rd with 38 points. Siam Navy are now in 2nd place with 39 points.
The turnout of some 3,500 fans was a record breaking crowd for not only Phuket but the entire Futsal Thailand Premier League so far.
And the crowd was lit on fire midway through the first half with goals by Phuket's Boonlit Kumkrong and Anuwat Panoppha.
But there is a reason why Chonburi are reigning AFC futsal champions – experience, talent and above all, determination.
Futsal superstar Supawut Tueanklang's scored with one of his signature long-range missiles, which was complimented minutes later by the equalizer from Jirawat Sonwichien – goals that clearly demonstrated why both are key Thailand national squad players.
Aside from the fact that the two clubs were two of the best in the entire country, another reason for the large turnout was no doubt due to the appearence of special guest superstar – Phuket United's star ambassador – Dome Pakarn Lum, who handed out tees to several lucky fans at half time.
In the second half, Chonburi found their usual rhthm, controlling possession and attacking throughout.
Jirawat scored his second to put his side in front, and national squad and Chonburi team captain, Kritsada Wongkaeo sealed the match with one final goal late in regulation.
Chonburi found themselves in foul trouble, and when they commited their sixth team foul of the half, Phuket was granted a penalty.
But Edson "Gugu" Silva was unable to beat Chonburi's keeper Katawut Hankampha, who swatted the shot clear.
Phuket break for a week, hitting the road to take on 6th place Ayuthaya City on Sunday (June 15), before returning home for another tough match, against 4th placed Samut Sakhon on Wednesday (June 18).
