The 50 metres of repaired road re-opened at 7:30pm last night (Jan 31), Project Engineer Chalermpon Wongkietkun confirmed to The Phuket News.
“Workers repaired the road over the weekend and it is safe now for vehicle to drive over as usual on both lanes,” Mr Chalrempol said.
“The road works will not delay the completion of the project, which is now hoped to be completed by May. Workers have now returned to focusing their efforts on completing the tunnel,” he said.
The emergency road works were ordered after a huge rift opened after heavy rains flooded the site on Friday (Jan 29).
Traffic was detoured through the parking lot of the Tesco Lotus shopping centre while all traffic was diverted away from the repair site, causing traffic delays of up to an hour.
