Officers also checked for drugs and to ensure that venue operators had the required licenses to sell alcohol.
In a report issued by the PR Department, one of the top priorities was to ensure that venues were not selling alcohol “within the vicinity” of “educational institutions”.
The raids began at 10pm after Phuket Governor Nisit Jansomwong passed down the order to make sure all officers throughout Phuket were upholding their duty “to enforce the law seriously to decrease crime and social problems and to protect teenagers from alcohol”
The ensuing raid party comprised security personnel from the Royal Thai Navy Third Navy Area, police, district officers, excise officers and other relevant officials.
Also present during the raids were police cheifs, Kathu District Chief Sayan Chaichanawong and Thalang District Chief Veera Kertsirimongkol and Phuket Provincial Office chief administrative officer (Palad) Parkpoom Intarasuwan.
