Municipal officers from the Public Order Division conducted inspections in key areas including Phang Nga Rd and Thalang Rd, targeting obstructions and encroachments on footpaths and roadways.
The operation was led by Administrative Division Head Thanaphan Phuripattaraphan and General Administration Division Head Mali Inthisit, with support from officials across multiple municipal departments, including public relations and strategy and budget teams.
Officials said the campaign is aimed at improving cleanliness, order and safety across the city by addressing the widespread issue of unauthorised use of public space. This includes vendors, parked vehicles and other objects blocking sidewalks, roads, markets and community areas.
The initiative is intended to ensure safer and more convenient access for pedestrians while promoting equal use of shared public areas. Authorities also noted that improving the urban environment is key to strengthening Phuket’s image as a livable city and a quality tourism destination.
Phuket City Municipality is calling on residents, businesses and visitors to cooperate by keeping sidewalks and roads clear, refraining from parking on footpaths and avoiding any encroachment on public land.
Officials warned that violators will face strict legal action under relevant laws, adding that maintaining order in public spaces will help enhance the city’s appearance, boost tourism confidence and improve quality of life for residents.
