Phuket Town motorbike collision leaves one dead, two injured

PHUKET: A collision between two motorbikes resulted in the death of a 56-year-old woman and left two others injured in Phuket Town yesterday (Dec 25).

Phuket City Police were called to the scene, near the entrance of Phoonpon Soi 7, at about 2:15pm.

Officers and rescue workers arrived to find a Phuket-registered, blue-and-gray Honda Scoopy driven by Duangduean Athimuttisan, 56, with Phanraksa Rakhawong as a passenger. Both were injured and transported to Vachira Phuket Hospital.  

A black-and-red Yamaha Click, also registered in Phuket, driven by Thanyu Phanphet was also found at the scene. He was also injured and also taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital.  

According to eyewitness accounts, Ms Duangduean was exiting Poolphol Soi 7 when it was struck by Mr Thanyu’s motorbike, which was traveling straight. The impact occurred near a U-turn point.

Ms Duangduean later succumbed to her injuries, police confirmed.

Police have seized both motorbikes while officers continue their investigation, police confirmed.
