The initiative, described by Phuket City Mayor Suppachoke Laongphet as a New Year’s gift to the public, will run until Feb 28. The service aims to stimulate the local economy, promote sustainable tourism, and showcase the city’s distinctive Sino-European heritage and community lifestyle.

Mayor Suppachoke, accompanied by senior municipal executives and officials from the Tourism and Sports Division, conducted a route test on Christmas Day to finalise operations ahead of the official launch. He said the EV buses form part of the municipality’s broader policy to promote tourism in new, creative formats while enhancing Phuket’s urban image.

“The EV buses are designed with colours and themes reflecting the identity and landmarks of Phuket, inspired by the unique Sino-European architecture of Phuket Old Town,” Mayor Suppachoke said. “We invite both residents and tourists to join this new tourism experience, enjoying Old Town’s atmosphere and the lifestyle of Phuket people up close.”

The free service will operate five rounds per day for each vehicle, with buses departing hourly. One bus will depart at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 5pm and 7pm, finishing at 8pm. The second bus will operate at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm and 8pm, finishing at 9pm.

Passengers can board at Dragon Plaza at Queen Sirikit Park on Thalang Rd. Walk-in registration will be available daily from 11am to 8pm during the project period.

The bus will depart from Dragon Plaza and make the following stops:

  1. The Chartered Bank Building
  2. Surin Circle Clock Tower (วงเวียนหอนาฬิกา)
  3. Bang Neow Shrine (ศาลเจ้าบางเหนียว)
  4. Saphan Hin Park – King Rama 9 Commemoration Park (สวนสาธารณะเฉลิมพระเกียรติ ร.10)
