The procession started at 6:45am at Lim Hu Tai Su Shrine, otherwise known as Aam Sam Kong Shrine, before making its way around local streetsand finishing at Saphan Hin Park.
Local residents and tourists alike, many dressed in white to welcome the reverred Budhha image, looked on as the procession passed, while alters were constructed in houses that the procession passed by.
A series of colourful floats followed the Buddha statue that was being carried, with firecrackers being set off in every street that it passed to usher in good fortune.
A number of mediums who were part of the procession displayed a series of customary piercings to their faces where items such as kitchen knives, spikes, umbrellas and other items were seen piercing their cheeks and tongues, a practice that is believed to deflect any bad luck away from those participating in the festival.
Today will see processions taking place at Rua Shrine in Srisoonthorn, at Cheng Ong Shrine in Phuket Town and Sam Ong Hoo Shrine in Cherng Talay which will conclude at the Chinese Shrine at Baan Bang Tao, near Laem Singh.
As usual, expect traffic delays while the street processions are taking place.
