UPDATE
Executive of resort management company Tri-Asia, which manages the Dewa Karon Beach Resort, Lars Ydmark, clarified today (March 9) that the cause of Mr Samsonov's death was from electric shock.
The electric shock was the result of unsecured electric wires coming into contact with the bridge railing.
“We've been in regular contact with the Russian honorary consul to see how we can help his family,” says Mr Ydmark.
Mr Samsonov's family have already moved to another hotel.
The resort has already hired an electrical safety consultant to check the entire resort.
According to Mr Ydmark, Mr Samsonov's children were not in the pool at the time of the accident.

Witnesses told police the incident occurred while Mr Samsonov’s wife and two children were taking an evening dip in the hotel pool at the Dewa Karon Beach Resort.
Mr Samsonov heard his daughter calling for him, and got out of the water to see what was wrong.
But when he gripped a steel bar on the bridge next to his daughter, he suffered a fatal electric shock.
The hotel’s restaurant manager, 33-year-old Surasak Petchsut, was also rushed to Vachira hospital, after he too was electrocuted trying to help the Russian.
Mr Samsonov’s daughter was apparently given an electric shock when she brushed her hand against the steel bar, say police.
They suspect that a fault in the lighting system on the bridge may have been responsible, but are continuing to investigate.
Mr Samsonov checked in to the hotel on February 12 and was due to leave on March 13.
