No passengers were on the bus at the time and no other vehicles were damaged in the incident, confirmed police.
Capt Kraisorn Boonprasop of the Thalang Police was called to the scene, a few hundred metres north of of the intersection to turn off toward Nai Thon Beach, at 2:30pm.
Police and Kusoldharm rescue workers workers arrived to find the bus, with Sapkhongsom Tour emblazoned on its side, with minor damage rammed into a rubber tree by the side of the road.
The 21-year-old driver of the bus, Attachai Nualsuwan from Satun, was waiting at the scene.
“Mr Atthachai explained that the bus was heading toward Thalang when the tyre exploded,’ Capt Kraisorn said.
“He lost control of the vehicle, but managed to swerve safely off the road,” he added.
“It was lucky that the bus did not hit a power pole and that there were no passengers on the bus. The bus insurance company has been informed of the accident,” Capt Kraisorn said.
