Phuket teen dies in early morning motorbike crash

PHUKET: One teen died instantly and a second was hospitalised when they crashed their motorbike into the back of parked pick-up truck in the early hours of this morning (Nov 13).

Thalang Police were called to an accident on the southbound side of Thepkassattri Rd at 3:30am. It had been reported that one teenager had died and another injured when the motorbike they were on slammed into the back of a parked pick-up truck.

Police and Kusolharm rescue workers arrived at the scene, in front of the Makamdeekwuy Restaurant in Srisoonthon, to find a Toyota D'max pick-up parked at the side of the road with its rear light broken and the right side damaged.

The driver of the pick-up, Anucha Chaymanee, 33, was waiting at the scene.

Not far from the truck was a wrecked red plate Honda MSX. Five metres away from motorbike was the body 17-year-old Natchanon Bunjan. He had suffered a broken left leg and head injuries.

His passenger Prechporn Sae-ing, also 17, was lying on her side in the middle of the road, she had suffered head injuries and was convulsing when police and rescue workers arrived.

The body of Mr Natchanon and Miss Prechporn were both immediately taken to Thalang Hospital.

Mr Anucha told police that he parked his vehicle on the side of the road and went to work at the 0 Makamdeekwuy Restaurant.

He said that before finishing work, he was talking to his friends inside the restaurant when the motorbike slammed into the back of his parked pick-up.

No charges have yet been filed.
