Vice Governor Adul Chuthong welcomed TAFEXS President Chanaporn Poonsap Hirun and her delegation during a meeting at Phuket Provincial Hall on Friday (May 8). Relevant government officials also attended the discussions.
The meeting focused on strategies for improving management of financial service businesses in Phuket and developing international standards for foreign exchange services to support continued tourism growth on the island.
TAFEXS also presented plans for training on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT), inviting local government agencies to take part in programmes aimed at improving understanding of relevant laws and strengthening transparency and accountability in financial business operations.
Officials said the discussions supported government policies on financial transparency and efforts to prevent money laundering, while also helping to build confidence among international tourists and investors.
Phuket authorities noted that maintaining strong financial governance was important to preserving the island’s economic stability and reputation as a world-class tourist destination.
