The damage has divided into two categories; vehicle damage, which is in the region of B5m, and police property which is around B1.7m.

Speaking to The Phuket News today (Oct 15), Thalang Police Superintendent Chanuchan Cholsuwat said, “It was not only 10 cars that were severely damaged. There were a further 12 cars and also five motorbikes that were parked in the car park at the time and were damaged.”

The ten cars that were severely damaged belong to the police. Two of them are official police cars and the rest our officers own cars. The additional 12 cars and five motorbikes are privately owned and have been kept at the station as they are involved in ongoing police cases.

The B1.7m estimated for damage to police property also includes a set of damaged traffic lights outside the station. However, it does not include damage to the police accommodation which was fairly minor.

“The windows of my house were broken but that’s not so serious. We are still waiting for the estimate for the damage to the police accommodation, but I think it will only amount to around B100,000–B150,000,” Superintendent Chanuchan said.

Although repairs are now being carried out a the station it is still fully operational.
