Design Hotels AG is a publicly traded company providing hospitality services to a network of over 280 independently owned small boutique and luxury hotels in over 50 countries worldwide.

Re-launching this month, the unique resort, designed by the award-winning architect Bill Bensley, will remain operated by the Phuket “Na-Ranong” family.

“Phuket has long been my home, and I’m continually grateful for what this island has given to us. To stay ahead, we must always evolve and we are excited with the next phase of The Slate which will provide our guests with a distinct yet heartfelt experience,” said Owner and Managing Director Wichit Na-Ranong.

Mr Na-Ranong has long been instrumental in developing Phuket’s tourism industry, and is a former President of the Tourism Council of Thailand, which acts as a policy advisory think-tank for the Thai government and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

“We aspire to offer an experience that intuitively understands guest’s needs, satisfies their desire to indulge while engaging their curiosity,” he said in a release in announcing the rebranding of the resort.

“The Slate remains firmly rooted in Phuket, paying tribute to local history, customs, heritage and cuisine,” said the release.

“The property offers 177 accommodation choices, eight restaurants and bars, three outdoor pools, tennis courts, a private beach club, a Art Lounge, Tin Box kids club, award-winning COQOON Spa, an on-property boutique The Stockroom, inspiring meeting venues and a cooking school,” it added.
