The bus will lead a parade starting at 9 am on August 15, proceeding from Dragon Park on Thalang Rd to the Lan Nawamin on Phuket Rd, where the bus will be parked and opened for donations from 11am to 3pm.
The Red Cross will use the bus to collect blood donations in parts of the island that do not have large rooms that can be used as donation centres. As yet, no schedule has been drawn up.
Meanwhile, the Phuket Regional Blood Centre has invited people to give blood as a way to make merit on HM the Queen’s Birthday on August 12 (also celebrated as Mother’s Day in Thailand), at Phuket Regional Blood Centre, 38/193 Rattanakosin 200 Pi Rd, Phuket Town, from 8:30am until 4:30pm. Donors will each receive a pot plant as a souvenir.
The Centre has also announced other venues for blood donations in August. These are:
August 5: Kan-Kroa Hall, Satree Phuket School, Muang Phuket, 9am-2pm;
August 6: Phuket Provincial Court, Muang Phuket, 9am-12am;
August 7: Rajabhat Phuket University, 10am-3:30pm;
August 12: Phuket Regional Blood Centre, 8:30am-4.30am;
August 13: 3rd floor meeting room, Patong Hospital, 1pm-4pm, and Mercure Phuket Deevana, Patong. 1pm-4pm;
August 14: Homepro Village, Chalong, 12am-4pm;
August 20: Honda Showroom, Chao Fa West Rd, 10am-3pm;
August 21: Radisson Blu Plaza Panwa Beach Resort, 1pm-4pm; and
August 27: Cherngtalay Subdistrict Administration Organisation (OrBorTor), 10am-3pm.
