Phuket Sports Association President Thammawat Wongcharoenyot received a plaque of honour to mark the province’s overall position of 4th in the national index, awarded by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) yesterday.
The Provincial Sports Association Management Model defines a blueprint for creating and developing sports, athletes and teams within provinces throughout Thailand, explained Proud Samanmit, Deputy Governor of the Sports Promotion Department, who presided over yesterday’s ceremony held at the Town Hotel in Bangkok.
Joining Mrs Proud at the awards ceremony was Kongphop Phothisuwan, SAT Regional Sports Director, and SAT board representative Sathit Bunthong, along with the heads of regional sports associations.
The awards ceremony is part of a two-day workshop meeting which concludes tomorrow where the SAT’s ongoing development objectives and operational plan are outlined to the provincial sports association heads.
The ultimate goal is to provide support and direction to enable all provinces to identify and nurture local talent, especially at a young age, which can be developed to that of an international standard, officials stated.
