Government officers and state enterprise employees are asked to wear their normal white uniform with no hat, while military personnel and police officers are to wear their normal white uniform with no hat but with sabre and gloves.

Members of private organisations and agencies, and students, are also asked to wear their uniforms, while members of the public are asked to wear yellow.

While the remembrance events are held each year, the invitation posted by the Phuket branch of the Public Relations Department (PR Phuket) was posted at 7:09pm last night.

Government offices across the island will closed tomorrow as the officials observe the national public holiday to commemorate the passing of King Bhumibol, also referred to as Rama IX, who passed away at Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok on Oct 13, 2016. He was 89.

The day has been designated a public holiday and will see many activities throughout the country held to honour the King.

Although the sale of alcohol is not prohibited by law on Oct 13, police traditionally encourage people to refrain from drinking alcohol on the day as a sign of respect and in honour of King Bhumibol.
