Confirmation of the rating came as provincial authorities renewed their public commitment to fight corruption during International Anti-Corruption Day (Thailand) activities held yesterday (Dec 9).

The event was held at Phuket Provincial Hall and was presided over by Nirat Pongsitthaworn, Governor of Phuket.

Vice Governors Kong-ek Adul Chuthong, Suwit Phansengiam and Teeraphong Chuaychoo attended, along with Praphan Srisuwipa, Deputy Director of Internal Security for Phuket, Chamnan Tandawachiraphan, Public Prosecutor of Phuket, heads of government departments and representatives from the private sector, civil society, the public and the media.

The event was held under the theme ‘Zero Tolerance: Thais will not tolerate corruption’, noted an official report of the event.

Before the provincial ceremony, participants watched a live national broadcast from IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, which included a moment of silence to mourn Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, a keynote address by National Anti-Corruption Commission chairman Suchart Trakulkesemsuk, and a nationwide declaration of intent to combat corruption led by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

Governor Nirat then led Phuket officials and stakeholders in a provincial declaration of intent to fight corruption, stressing that as a world-class tourist destination, Phuket must prevent corruption that could damage economic confidence, national reputation and sustainable development.

As part of the ceremony, certificates of honour were presented to six government agencies in Phuket that achieved an ‘Excellent’ rating in the 2025 ITA, along with awards for 19 agencies recognised for outstanding promotion of anti-corruption education curricula.

The province also convened its first 2026 meeting of the committee responsible for implementing the National Strategy Master Plan on Combating Corruption and Misconduct, setting operational directions for the coming year with a focus on prevention, stronger oversight and building a society that will not tolerate corruption, the official report concluded.
