The several hundred strong group arrived at the office and Teerayut Prasertphol from the Phuket Land Transport Office announced the closure.
“We will see how the situation progresses day by day,” Mr Teerayut said.
The protesters earlier went to the Phuket Vocational College but did not close it, instead just encouraged students and representatives to join in. There were also plans to go to Chalermprakiet School and the fisheries institute at Cape Panwa, and perhaps the OrBorTor office in Mai Khao.
One of the leaders, Amnuay Koombarn, told The Phuket News that there were no plans to disrupt the Phuket Town bus station or the Phuket International Airport.
Phuket Provincial Hall has been closed since Wednesday (November 27) after a 2,000 strong group arrived there around 9am and demanded it close, along with the nearby Phuket Provincial Administration (OrBorJor) offices.
