The update followed a provincial meeting held on Wednesday (Oct 29) at Phuket Provincial Hall, chaired online by Kesorn Kamnerdpetch, Director of the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC) under the Ministry of Culture.

Puangphaka Chaowai, Chief of the Phuket Provincial Cultural Office, led the local project management committee, joined by representatives from the Phuket Public Relations Office, Radio Thailand Phuket and other agencies.

The meeting reviewed final coordination work between national and provincial partners, with officials noting that exhibition venues, logistics, and promotional campaigns are progressing according to schedule.

Before the opening, OCAC will host a roadshow presentation for the Prime Minister and Cabinet at Government House on Nov 18, outlining the significance of the event and its readiness. Culture Minister Sabida Thaiset is also scheduled to visit Phuket on Nov 21 to oversee final preparations.

The Thailand Biennale Phuket 2025 will officially open on Saturday, Nov 29 at Saphan Hin Park, with exhibitions continuing across the island until April 2026. The event will feature works by more than 60 Thai and international artists, transforming public spaces in Phuket into large-scale art installations exploring the theme of contemporary culture and coastal identity.

In parallel, Phuket City Municipality has confirmed its full support for the Biennale, ensuring that local venues are ready to host installations and exhibitions.

On Monday (Oct 28), Mayor Supachok La-ongphet assigned Yutthana Kanchanaphak, Chief of Phuket City Municipality’s Engineering Division, to inspect Khao Rang Public Park as a potential site for art and sculpture displays. Discussions with the Phuket Art Association and participating artists, joined by Ms Puangphaka, focused on layout and presentation plans for the outdoor exhibits.

The Thailand Biennale is Thailand’s largest international art festival, held every two years in a different province. Phuket’s edition marks the event’s fourth staging and its first in the South, aiming to strengthen Phuket’s reputation as a global cultural destination while connecting contemporary art with the island’s natural and urban landscapes.

Officials expect the Biennale to attract significant domestic and international visitors over its five-month run, bringing both cultural and economic benefits to the province.
