Region 8 Police Deputy Commander Lt Gen Chalit Thinthanee and Phuket Provincial Police Chief Maj Gen Teeraphol Thipjaroen joined Patong Police Chief Col Chaiwat Uikum in leading the assembly, which began at 7pm.

Gen Chalit ordered all police in Phuket to be on standby in case of emergency and to strengthen their stance in preserving the lives and property of citizens.

“The important measure is raise security to prevent crime, which should not happen during the high season,” Col Chaiwat added.

“The Royal Thai Police has mandated that security be increased to protected tourists and citizens, especially during this period, when tourists come to our island,” he said.

“There are many threats to peoples’ lives and property, and this includes road accidents,” Col Chaiwat said.
