Phuket Provincial Police Commander Pol Maj Gen Pekad Tantipong will transfer out of Phuket as part of a national reshuffle.

Pol Maj Gen Pekad told The Phuket News today (December 27) that the transfer does not bother him.

I have not seen the official assignment yet. I just learned about it from the Thai press, so I don't know where I am to be transferred to, nor when I will start the new job.

It is a normal police transfer so there is no reason for me to be sad. I have enjoyed working here in Phuket but I have to follow orders,” he added.

His successor, he said, has a big job. “Many problems in Phuket need to be solved, including drugs, traffic, murder and corruption.”

Gen Pekad said he did not know who would succeed him.
