The operation, titled ‘Turning Darkness into Light’, was carried out at 11am under the direction of Phuket City Police Superintendent Pol Col Chatree Chukaew. The mission was led by Pol Lt Col Kamalas Niyomket, Deputy Superintendent, with support from officers from Thalang and Sakhu Police Stations.
Traffic police cleared the route and escorted the Vachira Phuket Hospital ambulance from the hospital to the airport, ensuring the precious donation reached its destination within the critical time window.
The eyes were sent to the Thai Red Cross Society in Bangkok for transplantation, giving new hope of sight to the recipient.
Phuket police said they were honoured to assist in a mission that “turns darkness into light”, symbolising the gift of life and vision through organ donation.
