Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew, President of the Phuket Administrative Organization (PPAO) Rewat Areerob, and representatives of the Peranakan Association of Thailand participated in a ceremony at Samyan Mitrtown in Bangkok on Thursday (Aug 24) to receive the Creative Excellence Award from Supattanapong Punmeechaow, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Thailand.
The achievement stems from the success of the Phuket Peranakan Festival 2023 held in June. The festival drew over 1,000 participants who joined the vibrant ’Extravaganza Carnival’, a street parade held in the historic area of Phuket Old Town as the Phuket Peranakan Festival’s main event.
The Phuket Peranakan Festival garnered significant attention in online media and brought pride to the people of Phuket, as stated in a report published yesterday (Aug 25) by the PPAO.
This festival played a significant role in promoting sustainable tourism, focusing on engaging local Phuket residents, Thai and foreign tourists alike in a colorful event that included wearing traditional attire.
This approach expanded the festival’s influence and aimed to establish it as an annual international arts and culture event, as stated by the PPAO.
Mr Rewat expressed gratitude to Phuket’s residents, the Governor of Phuket, the Thai Women’s Association (represented by Anchalee Wanichthepbutr), and the Peranakan Association (led by Dr. Kosol Taeng-Uthai).
Their strong support greatly contributed to the event’s impressive success, Mr Rewat stressed.
The evaluation process for the prestigious Creative Excellence Awards involved the use of the Mandala AI tool, a powerful resource for collecting, analyzing, and processing insights from extensive online data.
