The directive was issued during the 2nd meeting of the Phuket Provincial Anti-Narcotics Centre (ANCC) for fiscal year 2026, held at Phuket Provincial Hall on Friday (Dec 26) and chaired by Phuket Vice Governor Teeraphong Chuaychoo,
Attending the meeting were senior Phuket Provincial Police officers, including Phuket Provincial Police Deputy Commander Pol Col Phasakorn Sonthikul, representatives from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board Region 8 and members of relevant agencies.
Officials reported that arrests linked to narcotics offences have risen 28.95% compared with the same period in fiscal 2025, with methamphetamine pills (ya bah), crystal meth (ya ice), cocaine and heroin being the most commonly seized drugs.
Vice Governor Teeraphong called on all agencies to intensify surveillance and enforcement, particularly over the New Year period, and to act as “the eyes and ears” of the community. Local authorities were urged to strictly enforce laws relating not only to drugs but also drunk driving during the festival period.
Agencies were instructed to clearly define their operational plans, enhance screening and inspection in high-risk areas, and strengthen monitoring among both formal and informal workforces. All units are to fully implement their plans immediately after the New Year break.
The meeting also reviewed the nationwide ‘United Power, Love and Faith, Integrated Drug Problem Solving: Quick Big Win’ policy, designed to accelerate visible results in drug prevention and suppression throughout 2026.
Officials said that Phuket remains committed to integrating cooperation from all sectors to enhance drug control measures, protect public safety and maintain peace and order during major festivals and beyond.
