Phuket OrBorJor chief among dozens of officials suspended by PM for corruption suspicions

PHUKET: Paiboon Upasating, president of the Phuket Provincial Administration Organisation (PPAO or OrBorJor) is among dozens of senior officials to have been suspended or transferred by order of the prime minister, pending investigations into corruption allegations.

As of 8pm Thursday (June 25), The Phuket News had been unable to get a response from the former senator of Phuket and prominent businessman, to confirm the news, which broke on Thai and English language media.

The Phuket News understands that the prime minister used the controversial Section 44 to make the order. See breaking news here.

According to Thai media sources, Mr Paiboon was among seven OrBorJor chiefs to be suspended without salary, pending investigations. 

The other OrBorJor chiefs represented Lampang, Nong Khai, Ubon Ratchani, Nakhon Phanom, Yasothon, Samut Prakarn,
