The group was led by Yupaporn Noonum, Head of the Secretariat of the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation (PPAO), and attended the royal rites at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall within the Grand Palace.
Officials said the ceremony was conducted in a peaceful and solemn atmosphere, with participants expressing deep gratitude for Her Majesty’s lifelong royal benevolence and dedication to the Thai people.
The PPAO provided transportation and logistical support for the delegation, with officials closely supervising the journey to ensure the safety, welfare and orderly participation of all attendees.
Authorities said the aim was to give Phuket residents a dignified opportunity to express their condolences and to respectfully commemorate the Queen Mother’s immeasurable contributions to the nation.
The visit followed the departure of the group from Phuket on the evening of Dec 14, when six air-conditioned buses left the PPAO offices under the supervision of senior provincial officials, administrative officers and police. Security personnel accompanied each bus, and vehicle and driver checks were conducted prior to departure.
The trip forms part of a nationwide plan coordinated by the Ministry of Interior, running from Nov 17 to Feb 1, under which citizens from all 76 provinces outside Bangkok are allocated quotas to travel in organised groups to the Grand Palace.
Phuket has been allocated four groups of 750 people each. The first group travelled on Nov 25, while the second group, which included yesterday’s delegation, attended the ceremony yesterday.
The remaining two Phuket groups are scheduled to travel to Bangkok on Jan 4 and Jan 28, respectively. Provincial officials have reiterated that the same safety, security and logistical measures will be applied to all remaining journeys to ensure that each visit proceeds smoothly, respectfully and with dignity.
