In Patong, municipal workers spent the day clearing debris and assisting residents in low-lying areas affected by minor flooding across the town. In central Phuket, Srisoonthorn Municipality continued its cleanup efforts in flood-hit areas, while traffic delays persisted late into last night along Khoktanode–Layan Rd in Cherng Talay due to high water levels.
In Phuket Town, Vice Governor Samawit Suphanphai visited flood-affected communities in Talat Yai Subdistrict to monitor conditions and deliver aid. He joined Phuket City Mayor Suphot La-ongphet and local officials at the Thanon Luang Pho community, where residents were impacted by continuous rain and rising sea levels.
The Vice Governor instructed all relevant agencies ‒ including the Administrative Division, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Division, Public Health and Environment Division and others ‒ to provide immediate support to affected households. He also ordered drainage efforts to be accelerated and for water levels in Bang Yai Canal, which have been steadily rising, to be closely monitored.
Mayor Suphot directed officials to distribute food and medical supplies, including medicines to prevent water-borne and fungal infections such as leptospirosis. Acting Sub-Lieutenant Ruengrit Ritthaphai, Director of Phuket City Municipality’s Medical Division, was assigned to provide special care for vulnerable residents, including bedridden patients in four households unable to be relocated.
Also present during the inspection were Niti Petchpradabsakul, Chue Kongchin, Secretary to the Mayor, Phatthachot Rattanapratummal, Parada Niamsaard, a member of the Phuket City Council, Anant Nopkao, Director of the Public Health and Environment Division, as well as the Phuket City District Chief and other officials.
Authorities have warned that continued heavy rain, combined with high tides, could cause further flooding along the Bang Yai Canal. Residents living nearby are urged to remain alert and follow official updates.
People in Talat Nuea and Talat Yai can report flooding or related emergencies to the Phuket City Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office by calling 199 or 076-211111, or contact the Phuket City Municipality hotline at 1132.
