Vice Governor Adul Chuthong chaired a provincial selection meeting for the project at Phuket Provincial Hall yesterday (May 11), joined by provincial officials and representatives from all three districts.
The project, launched under the Ministry of Commerce’s policy, will see approved mobile vendors receive subsidies to help transport and sell low-cost goods to residents throughout the province.
Applications were accepted from May 1-7, with Thalang District receiving the highest interest. Of 27 applicants in Thalang, 11 formally submitted applications and six were approved after screening. Mueang Phuket District approved two applicants, while Kathu District approved one.
The provincial committee selected participants based on quotas allocated by the Department of Internal Trade.
Approved vendors will receive fuel subsidies according to vehicle size. Large vehicles will receive B750 per week, medium vehicles B375 per week and small vehicles B250 per week.
Phuket Province is scheduled to announce the approved vendors today (May 12) at district offices, along with details on operating guidelines, approved selling areas and product distribution procedures.
To participate, vendors must register through the Department of Provincial Administration system, pass provincial screening, join a LINE coordination group and install the Thailand Post application used for ordering goods.
Officials said vendors must also clearly display prices and ensure products remain consistently available to help improve public access to affordable consumer goods.
