The event, held on Friday (Dec 19) at Phuket Provincial Hall, was presided over by Governor Nirat, who also serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Phuket Provincial Red Cross.

He was joined by Kusumal Pongsitthavorn, President of the Phuket Provincial Red Cross and President of the Association of Wives of Ministry of Interior Officials, along with Red Cross committee members, government officials and private sector representatives.

The campaign aims to raise funds to support the Red Cross’ humanitarian missions, including assistance for disaster victims, the poor and vulnerable groups, welfare support for bedridden patients and the elderly, and educational assistance for underprivileged youth in Phuket.

Governor Nirat formally received donations from government agencies, private organisations, local administrative bodies, businesses and members of the public. As of 3pm on Friday, total contributions stood at B2,935,600.

As part of the fundraising effort, the Phuket Red Cross will host its annual charity lottery during the upcoming ‘Phuket’s Best Products 2026’ fair, to be held from Dec 29 to Jan 6 at the central stage area at Saphan Hin. The annual event promotes local products while supporting public charity initiatives.

Residents are encouraged to support the fundraising campaign by purchasing Red Cross charity lottery tickets priced at B100 each, available at the Phuket Provincial Red Cross Office at Provincial Hall and at district offices in all three districts. The top prize this year is a Toyota Fortuner Leader 2.4V S worth B1.6mn.

Authorities emphasised that the continued success of the Red Cross’ humanitarian work relies on cooperation from all sectors – government, private organisations, local authorities and the wider public – to ensure vulnerable people in Phuket continue to receive vital assistance.
