The opening ceremony for the 2026 project was held at Lotus Phuket (Samkong) on Sunday (May 18), with Phuket Vice Governor Suwit Phansengiam presiding over the event.
The programme was organised by the Phuket Provincial Children and Family Shelter in cooperation with agencies under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, along with government offices, private-sector representatives and civil society groups.
According to organisers, the project provided clothing and essential educational supplies to 30 disadvantaged children and youths from across Phuket’s three districts, with 10 students each selected from Mueang Phuket, Kathu and Thalang districts.
Speaking at the event, Mr Suwit said Phuket authorities recognise the importance of supporting children and youth, describing education as a key foundation for improving quality of life and strengthening social stability.
He noted that cooperation between public and private sectors played an important role in creating educational opportunities for young people in need.
Namthap Rodsut said the initiative has now been carried out continuously for five years and aims to ease the financial burden on families at the start of each school year.
He explained that support provided through the programme includes school uniforms, educational supplies and access to technology to help students continue their studies and develop their potential sustainably.
Organisers said the atmosphere at the event was positive and welcoming, with participating children able to choose and purchase their own clothing and school supplies with support from partner organisations and volunteers.
Officials and guests attending the ceremony also encouraged the students to study hard and contribute positively to society in the future.
