The letter confirming a foreigner’s address is commonly required by foreigners for matters as simple as renewing a driver’s licence. Two copies are required if the foreigner is renewing a car driver’s licence and a motorbike driver’s licence at the same time, making the cost B2,000 just for the immigration fees when renewing driver’s licences.

Asked to explain the increase in fees charged, Phuket Immigration would only state that current fees are charged in accordance with rates published by the Immigration Bureau under existing law.

The office pointed to the fee schedule published in the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (1979), and highlighted that the Act can be seen via the Phuket Immigration website (click here).

The office declined to explain if any other increases in fee prices were now being applied.

The fee structure is set under Ministerial Regulation No. 27 (2003), which has been in force since Aug 26, 2003.

Routine services, such as visa extensions and document endorsements, are listed at B1,900, while long-term residency permits and related applications can cost substantially more depending on category.
