The arrests, carried out between Nov 25 and Dec 4, align with the Royal Thai Police and Immigration Bureau’s mandate to enhance safety and security for residents and visitors, said a report of the arrests.
Those named as arrested on outstanding warrants were:
- Ms Panisakarn, 43, Thai national
- Mr Damrong, 29, Thai national
- Ms Seya, 23, Thai national
- Ms Andaman, 27, Thai national
- Mr Mani, 28, Thai national
- Ms Jindaphan, 42, Thai national
- Mr Frode, 52, Norwegian national
The location, date and time of each arrest was not reported. Also not reported were the crimes allegedly committed by those arrested.
It was also not reported whether Norwegian national Mr Frode was arrested on a warrant issued in Thailand, or arrested on a warrant issued abroad.
Also of note, all the names of the Thai nationals “named” in the report as arrested were marked as ”alias”. Mr Frode’s name was not.
“Since Phuket has a large number of tourists, Phuket Immigration would like to inform the public about the importance of reporting your accommodation according to Section 37 and 38 of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522 to facilitate inspection of foreigners in the area if any wrongdoing is committed and to ensure the safety of life and property of tourists and the public, as well as to build confidence among tourists visiting Phuket,” the report concluded.
