The four-day programme, ‘Enhancing the Efficiency of PAO Technician Work in the Digital Age’, was held at the Royal Phuket City Hotel from July 12-15 and officially opened by Phuket Governor Chotinrin Kerdsum on Tuesday (July 13).
The training brought together engineering personnel from PAOs nationwide and was organised by the Association of Provincial Administrative Organisation Engineers in cooperation with the Association of Provincial Administrative Organisations of Thailand and the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration at Chiang Rai Rajabhat University.
Governor Chotinrin said PAOs play a key role in delivering infrastructure and public services, with engineering departments responsible for roads, bridges and other public works.
He said modern engineering work now extends beyond construction to include the use of digital technology for faster, more accurate and transparent project management.
The course focused on three key areas: the application of AI, GIS and other digital tools in surveying, design and project monitoring; improving understanding of the government’s electronic procurement (e-GP) system, procurement regulations and professional ethics; and developing the management skills of engineering personnel.
Phuket Provincial Administrative Organisation President Rewat Areerob told participants that developing engineering personnel was essential to improving urban infrastructure and public services. He said sharing knowledge and experience between PAOs would strengthen their ability to apply digital technology more effectively in infrastructure management.
The programme also featured lectures by Association of Provincial Administrative Organisations of Thailand President Anuwat Wongwan, academics from Chiang Rai Rajabhat University and other specialists in engineering and public administration.
