Organised by the Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization (PPAO) in collaboration with the Sports Association of Phuket and with the cooperation of the Phuket Provincial Muay Thai Sports Association, “The Hero Fight 2026” took place at Bangla Boxing Stadium in Patong last Sunday (July 19).
The atmosphere was electric throughout as the numerous boxing bouts brought vociferous cheers from an enthusiastic crowd that packed out the venue situated in the island’s popular nightlife area.
Thammawat Wongcharoenyos, President of the Sports Association of Phuket and Sports Authority of Thailand Committee Member, oversaw the occasion and explained its purpose.
“It is an open a stage for young fighters from the general public to showcase their potential and develop their skills to the highest level possible, all while preserving the unique art of Muay Thai, our country’s national heritage,” Mr Thammawat said.
“Developing our sporting talent at the grassroots stage is of vital importantance as we strive to produce the best in class across all sports and this is just one example of how we are attempting to do this,” he added.
“It also aligns Phuket with the national drive of Muay Thai as a soft power to promote sports tourism and the goal of the province to be recognised as a sustainable sport city.”
Joining Mr Thammawat was: PPAO President Rewat Areerob; Secretary-General of the Sports Association of Phuket Warin Khaothong; Director of the Phuket office of the Sports Authority of Thailand Sumeth Akarporn; in addition to selected guests of public and private sector organisations.
